I click on the campaign, and to my dismay, I am brought to the intro movie again instead of to the menu where you can click resume game. Upon some research on the internet about MW2 losing campaign progress, an old reddit thread I came across suggested to untick the read-only box on the players folder where the save data is, and launch the game

Found solution: Browse Local Files via the Local Files tab in Properties of the game. Right-click on the exe file, either iw4sp or iw4mp, and click Troubleshoot Compatiability. Run through the steps. It shouldn't start because it isn't loading via Steam, but it will set the game to Windows 7 mode.

Go to steam main folder C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam 2. Find a file called Steam.dll, right click and copy 3. I have found a solution: locate your CoD2MP_s.exe, right click, Properties, Compatibility, and set "Run this program in compatibility mode for" to "Windows XP (Service Pack 3)".
