Recreational pilots flying under 101E don’t have location specific altitude restrictions. They can either fly there, can’t fly there or need to notify the airport to fly there. 107 pilots can fly in certain airspace’s that have altitude restrictions without the need for LAANC approvals.
These airspace restrictions are called Temporary Flight Restrictions ( TFRs) and are communicated to pilots through Notices to Air Missions ( NOTAM s). They restrict aircraft (including drones) from operating without permission in a certain area for a limited time. You must always check NOTAMs prior to your flight.
LAANC and DJI unlock are completely unrelated. LAANC puts you on the right side of the law with the FAA, and zone unlock allows the drone to actually be able to take off and enter the zone. Just take your time and read about the self unlock procedures on DJI's web site and practice doing it.
The new DJI drone Avata has three flight modes: Normal, Manual, and Sport. It's the first time I've ever applied for or used a Custom Unlock so maybe this is normal/my fault but I'm confused. When I transfer/unlock the license to the drone I just get a message that says "Altitude Zone 0ft" in the area that usually says "Authorized Zone" or "Takeoff Permitted" or "In Flight" etc. It never changes but it does let me fly.
